Drivers should be courteous and friendly and be able to deliver excellent customer service. Drivers must assist passengers getting in and out of the vehicle, and load & unload passengers in wheelchairs. Drivers must transport passengers to and from their destinations in a safe manner.
The Key Tasks & Responsibilities for this position include:
Drivers must perform the following: pre-inspection check on all vehicles assigned for the shift; pre-trip inspection on all equipment such as wheelchair tie-down equipment, vehicle hydraulic wheelchair lift, and others. Ensure all safety regulations and precautions are followed as required by Federal safety regulations as well as company safety policies and procedures. Communicate with local management team, passengers, company dispatcher regarding operational issues or concerns. Prepare and submit daily driver log(s) and vehicle inspection report(s) at the end of shift.
Education & Training
High School Diploma / GED equivalent is preferred but not required. A valid driver's license Class D required. A valid CPR/First-Aid card is required. The company will provide CPR/First Aid training with certification, if necessary. Drivers must provide current Illinois Driver Record. The driving history report printout with application; driving record must be current and valid no more than 30-days from the date of the application.
Knowledge & Experience
Experienced driving vehicles and driving passengers with special needs are a plus. Must have a driver's license for at least Five (5) years. No more than one (1) moving violation or one (1) at-fault accident in the last three (3) years. Applicants must be familiar with using cellular phones, a GPS/Navigation app in a cellular phone and familiarity with the general Chicagoland area and surrounding areas.
Ideal candidates should be prompt, self-motivated and responsible. The must have good communication skills and a positive attitude. They must be willing to go the extra mile in providing excellent customer service with safety at the core.
Drivers must be able to work in a fast-pace environment. Shifts are daily including weekends and work hours vary. Applicants must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening test. Applicants must pass a DOJ and/or FBI background check and company training.
Full-time employees are eligible for a comprehensive benefit package that includes vacation, sick pay, holiday pay, medical, dental, vision and 401K.
Driver must be able to pass DOT physical which includes lifting 100 lbs, push and pull up to 200 lbs, bend from the waist, pivot from the waist, be able to move from a standing position to kneeling position back to standing.
